In the previous chapters there was a near-end panel art that showed his older brother taking a form of a rat to communicate but then turns into his human-like form and then there was another panel that showed his older brother's hand/gloves that had a purple tattoo/mark that was also mentioned that, that specific mark/tattoo allowed mages to teleporting from anywhere. So no one/guards can know that bro actually escaped from prison/cell. So yes they did mention of his escape, you just skipped that part or momentarily forgotten it.
