Ch. 43

Even if this is a time loop, we have to admit it's a pretty unusual one. Usually, in stories involving time loops, everything resets, but here we can see that the bodies from previous attempts are still there.

So either it's some special kind of time loop (where everything resets except for that cliff), or it's not a time loop at all, but something else entirely.

Maybe it's all some kind of scientific experiment, and they get cloned every time?

Maybe it's purgatory?

Or maybe it's divine intervention meant to save humanity (and they're being given chance after chance to make things right)?

Maybe it's punishment for their past sins, and Teach and Guwon have been trapped in an endless cycle?

Or maybe Teach and Guwon aren't even human?

We still have no idea what's really going on, but I'm SO intrigued!

@Sam Yes, the parallel with the myth of Sisyphus is certainly evident, but it seems to me that it could be embodied in very different ways within a story like this. At this point, we could even interpret the identity of Sisyphus in various ways:
Teach (with Guwon as his boulder)
Guwon (with the city as his boulder)
Teach and Guwon together
