Orphanage = Foster kids until they are adopted or adults.
The orphanage should take good care of the kids. This orphanage didn't do it, they treated them bad until Leonie was adopted and they fixed things. Leonie was 2 years there and everyone treated her and the other kids bad, except Connie teacher (not Connie maid), so Connie teacher got saved of punishment
From what I understand, 1 year after that, after investigating, they discovered the kids who were "adopted" were actually being sold for at least 3 years, so the 2 years Leonie was there + the 1 year she was with the duke
Leonie got upset because it seems Connie teacher has something to do with selling kids, since she's the only one who was there since before, and Leonie trusted her a lot
