I've come to read this because so many people recommended it, but I can't seem to understand why is there so much hype around this ? I mean I'm not a picky reader but this is quite mid, the artstyle is great but it's taking so long to go where ? Idk, I'll still read it because I don't like to stop reading midway but still... PS : no offense or anything, just expressing my feelings !
@Rahelia maybe I can chime in? I am one of the people who hyped this and recommended it left and right....when there was only ONE season (it ended with them having s**). Their story felt so beautifully written and executed, I was in love! I'm not exactly mad about what's currently happening, but I hoped for them to be better in communicating than the average bl couple 😅 Though I really, really like that all of the characters feel so real (and their hardships and problems are too). But I miss the se*ual tension, I'm honest.
@Ratlady Yeah, I do agree with you about the first season and the realness of the protagonists! But as you said, the lack of better communication and all that is not at all what I expected from such a popular story. I mean, I’m 24 and I’ve read around 1,000 to 1,500 BL/yaoi — sure, I don’t remember most of them that well, but the miscommunication storyline is all over the genre, and I’m quite disappointed it’s also part of this one. Also, I miss the sexual tension too aha!
Anyway, thank you so much for explaining your point of view with some perspective and respect!
@Rahelia yeah I know what you mean, it's always the same old story. And with all plots it's always the same pattern for me at least: I start to lose interest the moment the se*ual tension fades and they "get each other" 🤣 it doesn't matter if it's yaoi or straight romance, the tension is what gets you hooked Imo. Though I have to admit I didn't pay enough attention to Andrew and his past. We still don't really know anything about him, and neither does Luke. I underestimated that. Andrew reminds me a lot of Si Eun from Weak Hero: no relationships to anyone, completely empty inside and just lives to study. He doesn't really know how relationships work because he never got to experience them.....
@Rahelia I'm here to see how things turn out for them, to be honest I thought they whare a toxic couple but after reading it it seems they have good communication but bad communication at the same time, some times the way they speak their minds are helping but they aren't fully speaking from their minds. No offense but the art style and how they'll end up together is the only reason in reading, not really for it's plot 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah, I totally understand what you mean! The tension really is what keeps you hooked at the beginning, and once it fades, it’s easy to lose a bit of interest, especially when the focus shifts more toward their daily struggles and miscommunication. I agree that their dynamic feels real, though; it’s one of the things that makes this story stand out for me compared to others in the genre. Even when things get frustrating, it still feels authentic I guess. I think we actually see it in similar ways, so it was nice to compare our impressions!
@ClydeTheSiren Yeah, exactly, I thought the same at first. Their relationship really came off as toxic to me too, but I get what you mean about how they try to communicate, even if it’s clumsy. I can appreciate what the author was going for, but it still doesn’t make the story more enjoyable for me personally. Their dynamic feels realistic, sure, but also kind of exhausting to read sometimes.. Still, it’s interesting to see how differently people interpret it, depending on what they focus on.
