ML is kinda sus, I think he knew that MC is possibly a guide(based on the spark touch thing), but guides are too few and often shared. I think he wants to monopolize MC for himself, the look he gave MC when he received the food was like he wanna eat him or something. I'm not surprised considering how typical deep guiding works.
