@Yunnay to be honest is not his fault from the beginning he let her know that the feeling wasn't mutual but he promise respect. He treated her like he used to "friends" she put expectations on it nobody is guilty for your expectations. He didn't cheat on her the edmund situation was a trigger to him she knew he was protecting himself on edmund. He protected her father how he could. It's unfair to take 6 years of his child life from him both to him and the child. My mom is doing the same thing to my younger sibling and its sad to see.!
