Story started real interesting, pretty original even. But now it's your typical school romcom slop with a tad bit of lame action here and there.
Btw, if no one caught that already, MC here actually got an intradiegetic plot armor. As long as he doesn't see a reaper coming for him, he knows he'll be alright. After the story took such a turn though, striking gold and wasting it on a school plot is pretty dumb, I'm starting to wonder if author himself realized it. There can be no tension in a story where the main character can so accurately predict death. Well, it's not like many story actually kill their characters off that often anyway. But the doubt is what fuels the tension, there can be no doubt here.
