I think he meant about the backstory or past of him that he told about Yuki's Dad (?) He thinks and says about it as a "lie" which he couldn't bring himself to say it to Yuki, I think?
(I don't know anymoreee, even I, myself, Is also confused)
@Paola How bad can his past be to not be able to tell Yuki the total truth which is important. And where is he going for two years that he can just leave her?
