It's a celestial armor. It's function is to keep the person who wears from freezing to death while they battle the monster. It's kinda a double edge sword though since it can also kill them if they wear it too long and they're not in the presence of a stern.

This is explained in the novel. Which is completely translated. I'm only here to reread and see how different the two are. Plus the art is beautiful.
