I think what a lot of people forget is that KD has allowed JJK to think that he's used to this sort of behaviour, that he regularly sleeps around and that the only reason he held out for a week when they were trying to recruit him, was to extort a higher amount of money.

I'm in no way condoning assault and SA but JJK spends ever my chapter thinking he's being likewise used by KD for whatever money he can squeeze out of the arrangement .. and later when

KD buys him a birthday gift and *almost* confesses to him but hurriedly retracts it to JJK that must just be confirmation that KD is just using him too.

JJK is a beast no doubt but if we were reading this from his perspective I think we'd be privvy to his complicated feels and confusion about KD and we'd be calling KD a manipulative slur ...

@Darkfluffplease I couldn't agree more. Rereading it i forgot Dan didn't let him know and just sucked it up for more money. A lot of communication problems to say the least. I think the eventual turnaround will be worth it, similar to BJ Alex

@anon yup I've re-read numerous times and I'm really starting to be curious as to how this would read from JJKs perspective. Everyone before KD had openly using him for the pay outs and brazenly so at that. We've had hints at him being deeply hurt by someone in his past and it being the reason he's closed off his heart.

There's a moment in chapter 47 where to me it's obvious he's bowled over that someone, anyone would go to such lengths for him and when KD chickens out and mumbles on about gratitude JJK gets angry.. he's furious for himself for allowing himself to think for a moment that he meant anything to someone.
JJK, I think will turn out to be a pretty wounded little baby with far.more going on in his head and heart than he can even begin to comprehend.
