@2016 Blue Subaru BRZ I searched it up... THEY'RE RIGHT! Apparently gunpowder just burns super fast and the explosion is just extreme release of gas at quick speeds in confined spaces (the explosion). So they are technically correct.
@floating kettle Gunpowder does explode, deflagration is a type of explosion.

That’s also why most of the time, the blast and projections are the actual risks of an explosion
Fyi : « explosion » = ignition (spark) -> combustion (fire) -> blast (gas)
