@Kukuruku I don't really see another way this could go, really. I rather like that he only has status ailment skills so far, and not moving towards gaining every skill under the sun, like alot of isekais do, where they go from their one weak skill to having a bunch of busted skills that make them the strongest. On that note, he needed the surprise and for Civit to let down his guard to get the drop on Civit, and would not have that opportunity if they had to rematch later. Civit would have been ready for a fight and has much more battle experience. It is a little anti-climatic for they hype of how strong Civit was, don't get me wrong, I am kinda disapointed too, but I think it helps show case limits of his skills and that he can't just run in with his skills, he has to get them in range and be able to get off the verbal components before his enemy can react. And yes, doesn't matter how strong someone is, there are still going to be things that can still kill them, like a gun sure, I'm sure there are others too, I see nothing wrong with using skills you have to defeat an opponent, whose strength you can't match because that is not your strenghths in a fight, which can be more cunning use of skills over outright strength.
