yall i read the novel this is adapted from and this is an absolutely abysmal adaptation can't even lie to you 😠like it lowkey makes me upset
.
they totally butchered Huang Ji (the MC) by getting rid of all the subtle little details that made him an interesting narrator. in the novel he purposely acts simple-minded because that's how people perceive him & that skewed POV makes it easier from him to get away with doing stuff that would usually be suspicious. although they talk about his intellectual disability in the manhua, it doesn't really play a part in the narrative and the people around him don't really seem to treat him differently.
.
also i feel like Huang Ji's burden from his "omniscient data" ability was watered down. for many years he had so much information presented to him with no idea what it meant, so he had a lot of his potential stunted. even though he got older, his ability was still overwhelming & hard to understand. equally as important was the pure fear that he felt when finding out there were maneating aliens on the moon. why does the manhua just brush over that fact? these are major parts of his character that make him more rounded.
.
and omg this is more minor, but Huang Ji has double pupils, so it looks like he has a white ring inside his pupils (always imagined it would look like when a ring light is reflected in your eyes). what happened to his double pupils ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ why'd they get rid of thatÂ
.
sorry for the very long rant. The Omniscient isn't even my favorite novel but it sucks to see it getting butchered so badly.
