i want both of them to be happy but no matter how i imagine the ending of this manhwa, i just dont see it having a happy ending.

yeonjo would and could never give up his revenge, it would destroy him inside if he ever decides to. and hee ryang cant afford to concede to yeonjo because he has too many duties and lives depending on him, even if he truly fell for him.

not to mention that this timeline is from where m/m is not legal. add to that their currentpower imbalance, and even if yeonjo miraculously gets his noble status back, the history between them is just too blo*** and bitter. this would probably be a reincarnated ending where they can let go of their past hurts and burden but still...

@luna_cy13 I see where you're coming from, but I really hope you aren't right about that reincarnation. I would dearly miss this world. And I think it would be too big of a shift to pull of semi-succesfully.

The part about MM relationships not being legal is probably the smallest worry. As long as Hyerang stays in a relatively high position, who is gonna say smth? If Yeonjo stays his boy toy, I think it's gonna be fine. And I don't think they need to be on equal foot for this to be a hea.

I also think you underestimate how much the author can make them change without sounding unbelievable. Since this is still part 1, there probably will be so much more, but right now, I can see it working out. In theory. Yeonjo has to 'forgive' the slaughter if his family (yes, big deed, but not impossible), and then if this episode worked out, Hyerang has to forgive the attempt on his life.

It will not be this simple and easy, and the poison very likely won't work like yeonjo hopes, but we'll see.

I'm hoping for a bumpy ride but with the sweetest ending as a reward.
@luna_cy13 the way I see it they were never meant to have a typical 'happy' ending. An easy way out on the author's part would be Yeonjo somehow loses his memories (this would be lazy writing imho and I really hope the author doesn't go this way) or Heeryang almost loses Yeonjo and is genuinely regretful and this miiight make Yeonjo forgive and forget.
I doubt Heeryang actually has a choice to give up his murderous ways now, if he wants to maintain power and restoring Yeonjo to his nobility might be a far dream since his family are seen as traitors but hey the author can make anything happen ig. Either ways I have high hopes for the ending.
@luna_cy13 actually the king is indebted to hee-ryang for destroying those guys who names I don't remember, who were harassing the population. So he can use that in his favour to have yeonjo's noble title back. Of course, the emotional issues would need to worked out first, and hee-ryang needs to propose to yeonjo a future bright enough that he seems a glimmer of hope in it.( Right now yeonjo sees no possible happiness without his family). But that would be a nice ending.
@Anonymous 23 but do you think yeonjo needs his noble title back for him and them to be happy? If they end up trusting and loving each other (in like, the far future) titles should not matter since they live like they're on equal standing, no?
@Osirizz I think he needs at least should be a free man, and choose to live there by choice. Remember in the beginning, his other choice was to return to live with his previous owner, a rapist. Let's not forget he's still a government slave.
