wow, we finally got 1 good use of gravity magic -.-; been bothering me. Gravity magic includes several different applications, most of which should be used at a range. However, the most interesting uses just so happens to be altering where "up" is ^-^ it's like making yourself weigh 0 lbs and then putting magnets on the bottom of your shoes. This moiety cr** is not gravity; if you were to make yourself lighter you wouldn't move faster, just look at usain bolt; becoming lighter would only increase your accelloration and make it really easy to knock you over -.- I'd much prefer to see him increase the gravity on a monster by 5x and it become imobile (5x gravity... if you weigh 150 lbs, that's like putting 600 lbs on your shoulders) then easily off it while it's in that position. Gravity magic is suppose to be used as the ultimate control magic, not a half assed do-all... but I digress
@Ethan Elliot you see that's where you're wrong if your weight is halved and the amount of force you can exert with your legs remain the same you will burn less energy while moving and your speed will double do the math
Let's say you can constantly exert 3800 newtons of force per stride and you weigh 75kg your acceleration is
185/75 = 2.47 m/s²
But at half the weight
185/37.5 = 4.94 m/s²
Taking 100m as the relative distance for measurement
S= ut + 1/2at²
At full weight:
100 = 2.47/2 x t²
t = 9.02 secs
At half weight
100 = 4.94/2 x t²
t = 6.36 secs
Calculate speed
Full weight speed = 11.09m/s
Half weight speed = 15.73m/s
Full weight time = 9.02 secs
Half weight time = 6.36 secs
Full weight acceleration = 2.47 m/s²
Half weight acceleration = 4.94 m/s²
So you are wrongggggg!!!
@The constellation g** slayer you ARE aware, that strides are in an arc and not a flat plain, correct? When you run, there is a moment in time where both feet are off the ground because you are applying the force DOWN. You then have to wait until your feet reach the ground before exerting more force. There is a maximum speed that you can move and that is the maximum speed your legs can move. When you weigh less, it takes less strides you reach your maximum speed. When you weigh more, you have more balance, but it takes more strides to reach your maximum speed. This is basic real life physics that engineers fight against every day. It's also the reason why japan doesn't win the olympic gold for the 400m. <- this is a joke
