@Zero Kirisame yeah there's no s*t or explicit romance or anything, just weird sus vibes that's not exactly "friend" behavior. There's things that will make you squint hence the contradictory tags.

For example, there's this one segment that is so extremely dramatic that it's known among the fandom as "the breakup/divorce arc". After that, the main character is on his own for a while and keeps remarking about how lonely he is without his friend there by his side 24/7. That part is all well and dandy, but then when they next speak, the author has them do so via the radio of a ghost story where his "friend" very specifically appears as a guest on a romance radio show to talk to/about the main character.
There's another time where another character, who is shown to be apathetic about pretty much everything, is just absolutely dogged (pun intended, because he's got weird ghost wolf powers) to do anything for the main character or even just see him. It goes beyond "maybe he's just lonely and is excited that he finally made a friend" when he has ample opportunities to make friends, he just has no desire to vs being with or doing anything for the MC. There's even a really heartwarming moment where the MC asks him why he came outside when it's difficult for him to because of company rules + his own condition and he just responds that he REALLY wanted to see the MC 😭.
