@Raspberry Plum Not even good glazing either. It's so half-assed and mediocre that instead of thinking Callum is impressive or was in any danger, I think "of course there was a contrived plot armor way for him to get out of this situation."
@Raspberry Plum I'm not even angry at his wife, I'm angry that he allowed himself to be convinced by her. He's the leader and protector of his family and it's not her place to tell him his job. He should have just overruled her when she said that it was fine or in the very least, evacuated for a while to make sure that nothing happened.
@Prinzinc Remember how strong Janry's information network is. Local mundane gossip was all it took to *shortly* find MC. Haphazardly running off somewhere random could still have ended with him being quickly located. Taisen was also compromised as Janry had some way to determine MC had sent him the bait they made. The only place they could have possibly gone that was guaranteed to be any safer than their prepared defenses was the dragonlands.
@Nelson Mandela Well, they were actively looking for the MC in that approximate area so it wasn't like they were combing the planet for him. If the MC was smart, he wouldn't have stuck to the relatively same geographic area and would have instead kept his retreat home somewhere extremely inaccessible where it only worked to live if the user had the ability to teleport and also where he could easily see people coming for him. Since he can obviously move his house wherever he wanted to, he should have had it built in one location and migrated to another.
The MC also had dozens of hideouts and bunkers he could have fled to if needed. I mean, even if he planned to reinforce his current hideout, he should have left his family somewhere more secure and undiscovered while he did that. At least be a little sensible and give it a month where you observe if people come for you.
I can't wait for the inevitable moon base that the MC is obviously going to build.
@Prinzinc MC cannot teleport an entire house at once (and teleporting it in sections would be sure to have issues), so it was always necessary that there be people where he built it. What would have been smarter, however, would have been to have the werewolves build it by teleporting them to the remote location in question. These are marginal improvements, however. There's always a trail. They weren't combing the planet because they had already narrowed it down, but recall that they combed the planet to find those clues that narrowed it down and would have continued to do so if they hadn't been able to triangulate him so neatly. Mages are incredibly powerful and can influence mundande governments. Harnessing satellite imagery and government surveillance and tracking techniques (that are quite frightening when focused on a single target) would have surely found him. Staying mobile would be the only way, and even that has its downsides (pick one wrong site, for example, and unexpected local supernaturals might spot him). Not to mention, staying mobile is very stressful for a family, so he was going to have to settle down at some point. I do agree an observation period would have been prudent, given he expected the attack.
@Nelson Mandela I think you missed a few things.
1) At the very end of this chapter, the MC teleports his whole house, basement and yard combined. So, yeah, this was apparently always possible.
2) The MC has been triangulated to the Midwest, going south to Texas and moving further south through Mexico. Anyone who was looking for him now would follow that same line. BTW, he's been found multiple times precisely because he kept on following that same line so if he really wanted to avoid getting caught again, he would put his house on an island in the pacific ocean or something (access only by portal).
@Prinzinc You're right. I did miss that. Three notes however: just because the enchanters found him doesn't mean Janry had access to that information, and as I said, they only narrowed the scope because they had information. They would've kept the scope wide if they didn't have it. No matter how remote he goes, it just makes it stick out more on satellite imagery (hence why I mentioned it), and the trail from securing building materials was always going to exist, as is the trail of internet activity and supplies.
