@gooner lots and lots of people get married to the opposite gender and have kids with them while secretly being gay because there's such a stigma. It's more rare in lots of countries now but it still happens a lot. It's not that weird of a question to ask. :

@yaoicastle that's not the case here though, unless the kiss he placed on teenage chang-geon was an actual kiss and not just a peck to the forehead.
even after his wife died, sam-myeong went to distract himself with female prostitutes. in all the scenes we've seen, past and present, he didn't look at a single man with longing or lu**. he more or less just got used to having his body taken against his will and has resigned himself to his fate. now that he thinks he has no one else left, he's focusing all of his love and affection on chang-geon, because he thinks without him he would be lost.
it's more like affection and attraction born from necessity than genuine interest.
(that's at least my take on the whole situation, so please take it with a grain of salt.)
