I think people are reducing this to “he deserves it” when the whole point of the chapter was that both of them are trapped in a dependency they never handled properly. What happened wasn’t satisfying karma, it was painful to watch because it showed how transactional their dynamic has become. It’s supposed to feel uncomfortable, not satisfying.
