Hmm I remember this part being somewhat different in the novel. This breathing method was made for humans so Leo, whose aura resembles that of a beastkin (he was first taught aura techniques by a beastkin mercenary), couldn't use it and Leo modified the breathing technique to suit him instead. The teacher didn't do anything.
