I don't understand why people resent the male lead so much, if you go back and analyze his actions from the beginning the only thing he did "wrong" was not liking xu cheng yan back. They only had an unequal relationship.
Of course, it's gonna look cruel seeing from the perspective of cheng yan everything Yang did because it made him feel rejected, and he probably thought that after five years Yang would have finally started feeling the same way. But as we know this wasn't the case.
