And Rui isn't scared of the doc he's more like disapproving of his behaviour. He clearly dislikes him and his open flirtyness with Shion, cause he is jealous. Also, if I remember the earlier chapters correctly, he knows the doc through his own family. That Rui and his family are on more or less bad terms is well shown in the chapters before the kidnapping, when Rui didn't want to take the call and/or see his mother. Also I think he said something along the lines in the earlier chapters that he dislikes the status and everything of his family.
