@Uggabugga nah they only really started loving her near the end so i dont really feel she was wrong

@DUKE_ALDEN one of the core things that demonstrates their neglect is she was gone for three days, and no one in that house, not one single person noticed.
The only reason he went to the annex was he wanted something from her. He want her a child to find a solution to an adult problem. Without that who knows how long it would have been before he noticed.
All of this superficial kindness is very, very recent and all of it is rooted their own feelings of guilt, and selfish wants. The shut their eyes to anything inconvenient to themselves.
Like the grandfather, he lashes out at a young child, a child who has lost both parents, for no reason. Then immediately forgives himself and makes excuses.
Not once has he thought he was wrong for doing that, or admit the part he played in the abuse. None of his efforts now are for her, it's to prove to himself he didn't fail again.
