I suspect MC isn't trying to stop the Iron Mountains expedition because there's no way he could do it without killing a lot of leaders and becoming a wanted man. The Golden Lions don't sound like the kind of people who'd believe he's a regressor -or worse, they'd try to use him for their gain.
