@Nobody What i gathered from fumiko's conversation is that humans might continue to live on in despair even after getting eaten, as blood and flesh. though the sentence was abruptly ended, so its subject to change in the later chapters.

...That seems implausible if you consider they will be unable to function or even think. The only way that would be plausible is if humans can exists in some etherial form at this point.
