I know everyone is sympathizing with the mc but put yourself in the ml shoes too you know like your friend just confessed to you but you're unclear of your emotions, if that was me I would have frozen there too and the mc didn't really give enough time for the ml to answer since once confessed he just up and left. So both sides are clearly in the wrong here because of this miscommunication.
