her father really is the culprit he was in relationship with the empress before their marriage that is they are lovers and after emperor died he will again start relationship with her and he will help empress to kill ethan something like that but fl doesn't know her father is guilty and Ethan doesn't inform her also.... she will think her father is innocent and tell him in the future that ML will put a fake crime on him and the ML was under the impression she was an accomplice, I believe she only begged to be killed alongside her dad but didn’t actually have the specific wordings to justify she wasn’t aware. The only reason she was alive at TL1 was because ML loved her and couldn’t bear to actually kill her. Who knows really, we don’t know the whole picture. We could assume prior to executing the father, the couple was in a tight spot losing their strongest supporter (1st Prince), the empress being evil (ML could justifiably be wary of her but what about MC who knew nothing and could be like some airhead whenever she’s invited to a tea party) I find it oddly hilarious going back to the question, ML had a terrible fixed idea that MC was evil by association once her father’s affair with the empress came to light or at least threatened his life but now in the new TL MC has been doing dodgy things where ML is suspicious again later on (this is from spoilers I saw in the forum)

If he would would kill her, because that would make him comfortable (because he really thought FL was actually involved in this) and FL father (when he was tortured) said his daughter wanted to be empress, so he just done what is the best for her. ML thinking that FL life was always superior to him. So ML done everything covering her eyes and ears etc, to preserve her place as an empress....because he thought this is what she want, so once whe she leave behind her resentment, then she going to accept him and having children and the second child became the next Duke of Lane....But Cecilia never wanted to be Empress.... So she comitted suicide. When she died ML wasn't sad, he was just tired and exhausted in first time line) (btw, after reading the full spoilers....I find both ML and FL kind of not well written? Not on anyone's side... The FL too in this timeline when found out some things was in denial the whole time and there is a misunderstanding all over again because ML keep catching her doing suspicious things :/ and the ML, since he loved FL so much in last timeline why he still sincerely wish for her death to make his life more comfortable just because he’s exhausted? :/ some parts just dont make sense. Don't get his thinking because at some point he not only loved her and wanted to protect her, but hated her too. ML got tired of his own actions (keeping her in the dark) and wished she died(and honestly after reading spoilers, I think I like FL more than ML cus why he didnt tell her it? But I guess he made up his mind that she is involved but at some point, He's literally just tired of making MC ignorant. And this timeline he became borderline obsessive and think she is constantly going to leave him and think she is with another guy? (Assumptions again) and In the side stories there is a scene when she feeling belly pain, but the doctor didn't found sign of the childbirth, so he said use painkiller even thought the doctor didn't really want it, because it cause harm to the child (it going to born safely). But the story? Not sure if I will continue read it or drop it
