Hyoseop originally does not get pulled into the portal, he went inside the portal to create a ploy that he died.
andante went crazy looking for him in all similar portal gate with the same nature but could not find him.
hyoseop did not die because he uses the scroll to teleport to banos right before he enter the dungeon.
in banos he met with selene, tina and teddy.
there is also flashback where it explains how hyoseop was so very traumatized from his old guild betel. He was imprisoned at the age of 15 by the little brother of betel guild leader, gaslighted, manipulated, forced to imprint on the heart as the bastârd (i forgot the name) manipulate saying hyoseop causes the death of betel leader. This kept on going for 4 years till one day the bastârd friend Ren was told to took care of hyoseop for 2 weeks, ren the found out hyoseop was severely abused, traumatized, was cut off from the outside world, does not how to watch tv nor ever have a phone.
Ren became hyoseop light till one day ren finally confront that bastârd only to end up both of them dead, (its a very long flashback you guys need to read the novel because its so bittersweet) then back to the present andante still searching in every dungeon for hyoseop trace like a madman. While hyoseop was in banos living peacefully cut off from the internet/social for 6 month+
