@Smack my a** the fight I believe was used as an anchor to put Arthur not only in a position where he needs to display his affection (which has previously been avoided) by making a small sacrifice (plot armour so it's small to readers but relevant to her)  and also to show more about tessia, in this case her abilities and beast will, it was a good play on writing
