I think nina is the sister, like they have both blond hair and red eyes, what's the percentage of two people looking identical and not being siblings? I think he will notice later on and regret trying to kill his lost sister, I believe the church decided to keep the girl and get rid of the other one since they probably saw more potencial on Nina. This is just a presumption btw...
