My theory is : his company had developed a time machine, that's how they went past time, but complication raised, they remembered the future.. nose bleed, alcohol intolerance and other side effects included..
That silver haied guy is searching the blue print in his home, whereas he is trying to make it quicker to develop antidote/something against these nosebleed thingy, so they won't die.

Quite valid, if it's not time machine then any other explanation wouldn't make much sense at this point. It's sad how in the dark she is over things in her life yet again, hopefully he tells her soon.
