I absolutely cannot call this ending a happy one. These relationships are deeply disturbing, and anyone with eyes and even a basic level of reading comprehension should be able to see that.
KYUJIN is an EMOTIONAL ABUSER, a MANIPULATOR and a RАPIST... and yes, you are ready for that conversation.
From the very first chapter, we are shown that he simply does not care about his partner’s lack of desire for intimacy. He guilt-trips Chiwoo, pressures him and then continues regardless of his tears, pain and pleas to stop. That is not love, and it is not a misunderstanding. It is rаpe.
I understand why Chiwoo refused promise rings for all those years. On some level, he was unconsciously hoping to escape, to leave that cage before it fully closed around him.
What I genuinely find interesting is why he finally gave up after meeting Jihyun. Perhaps Chiwoo still hoped that something could change until he saw the ring and realized that it was already too late.
Either way, there are far too many unanswered questions left behind, and that makes this ending not only unsatisfying, but genuinely sad.
