Nah in a nutshell this chapter specifically: his uncle offered to adopt him to give him protection & justification why he has to stay there, while he figures things out
He got a call and the investigation proved that two rats planned to kill MC. Also, I guess the little bf he had before used to date one of the rats, that’s why investigator said it might be out of revenge. 

Mc was obviously listening in, but he believe uncle will still protect the rats rather than him so it seems he messed with uncles sleep medicine (or cell regeneration medicine)  and I guess added his blood to it(?). Based on my BL radar that’s gonna make him drugged and MC will sleep with him so that he can create a weakness that he can use against his uncle since he doesn’t trust him
