If you notice in the beginning MC (red string of fate) and grey hair's (black string of fate) are tied together like two shoe laces which means someone meddeled with their fates- sticking them together. Since the red is falling for the black, the black reacts badly since it is an unnatural pairing, I assume since MC isn't the one who grey is 'supposed' to love that his body and/or soul reacts in repulsion rather than reflecting the romantic feelings because of it being a 'forcefully' set up relationship.
I'm sure the plot will reveal why he's acting like this sooner or later but I hope this might help with why :)
