@DRCCN would be surprised, but for many, the trauma itself is a way of punishment. So to say, he might be reliving the trauma as a way to punish himself for not being able to protect her.

I was thinking that seeing his sister die like that gave him some short of sick plusure . Maybe he was so stressed thinking and working on how to get his sister out of that house that he felt a sence of relief after she died. And maybe he seeks to feel that sence of relief again that he starts killing people that remins him of his sister to feel that feeling again. I say this because I am into true crime and most of the serial killers I read about have some sick twested way of thinking.
