@NeverWhere I agree that, so far, this incredibly weak MC and the slow pace of this story is... disapointing.
I was hopeful when MC got that Elder Vampire as a familiar, but then she required far too much energy to maintain a human form and, really, do anything useful.
I was, again, hopeful when MC got that "Miscevous" treasure chest when it explained that, with a big caveat, the items it gives are known to perfectly suit the needs of whoever opens it, with energy being the one thing MC needs. But these hopes get dashed when it only gives an "Energy Drain" ring that can only drain energy of allies and, even then, the amount limited by how highly the target regards MC. In other words, the ring was so pathetic it wasn't worth using (unlike the items it is known to give others).
Now we see that MC can only summon Elder Vampire lady for a max of 10 seconds... and even that is at the expense of his vital energy (i.e., stamina and hitpoints). The only way to remedy that is if MC has a source of "corrupted mana" (i.e., demonic energy) to siphon off of.
So, the author seems to HATE his own main character to the point of making him struggle for every chance of continued existence and never giving him anything good.
