the price of an egg includes gas to transport it to the store, the feed and operational cost of the chicken farm. Transportation fee for the feed for the chickens... the wage of employees at the farm and the grocery store.... the machinery that processes the egg... for a single egg there is a lot of small fractional costs that add up. Oh yeah, taxes and if the facility has any sort of debt incurred to get the machinery or whatnot, the premium payments are calculated into the price of that single egg
