@Neuro Morphine I don't think that's what he was trying to say. He chooses to be second-best, not because he thinks he can't be first place because he likes the idea of shaping others to fit his ideals instead. He mentions changing people's destinies and also his talent being changing others, as well as finding that shaping others to fit his ideals as fascinating. I guess the most suitable term would be he has a g**-complex? Not that he thinks he's g** literally, but he likes being in control of other people, similar to how a g** is omniscient. So instead of holding himself back in second place, he's shaping who he wants to get to first place? This is all just conjecture and my opinion though.

@Neuro Morphine that's the thing , Isagi, Rin and all the others ego is becoming the best striker , Reo's ego was making Nagi the best striker, while Hugo's ego is changing people to what he thinks is the best according to their talents regardless of what they actually want , and he makes it his mission to change their thinking , he isn't underestimating himself I'd say quite the opposite
