@Haily honestly yeah well atleast in the cases i''ve seen it can really happen
I had a friend who was really shy but when we moved into high school her apperance changed a lot ,  and she became more confident and outgoing. "Looking different" made her feel like no one knew the old her so it gave her more confidence. It gave her a chance to be different sooo ig you could say she took it as a chance to put herrself out there bcs in the past she couldn't. And for a lot of shy ppl they do genuinely want to be confident too
