 basically extra lessons/tutoring. Cram schools are mainly in Asia and it's an "extra" school for extra tutoring/studying and you normally go there after school has finished. The reason for cram school is because in Asian countries for example,Korea, it's very hard to get into a SKY university (basically the Ivy Leagues of Korea) so students go to cram school to study harder to pass CSAT (korean SATs).

Unlike (some)extra lessons in western world, you don't necessarily go to cram school because ur stupid you go there to farther your education.

SKY universities are = Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University
