I have a theory so far: it's twice that this episode mentions the nuclear family, importance of being fruital aka birthing children, and the imbalance of boys to girls in classrooms. Maybe on that island he was being drugged and forced to procreate and ofc there's the layer of him being gay and the conversion tactics that come along with that. IMO that would make sense why he has 2 kids, one being a son that was immediately taken from him and never felt like his child. Perhaps they're just commiting these s** crimes to birth more children for this cult.
