Only thing I understood in the past timeline is that our MC was Muni, probably a young servant or slave. And Mr. Jeong who's probably an embodiment in the present of the young master. Going back on the chapters, Muni probably fell ill or died (don't remember how) and Young Master came late. Only to see his cold body. In despair and cliche sudden burst of obsession. Probably did some dark, supernatural spell—after seeing Muni covered in talismans—to take part of Muni's soul and bind it to his for all eternity, in all different timelines, just forever. Even in death.
