Ch. 3
@Book Here is what I put together.

The mushroom showed something that happened in the past and it obviously wasn't the MC's soul, yet it showed a past master confused about their name.  Thus, it would seem that the mushroom has a couple of functions.  In small doses, people can have a one way experience of someone else's deeds but with a significant amount (enough to risk your life) you can "blend" your soul with another.  This takes place outside of time/space which means that it can happen with any previous individual and it has "always" happened (meaning, that it happened before you ate the mushroom).  The causality paradox is solved by the Dao's involvement being also outside of spacetime.  I guess you would call it a "Daoshroom" since it connects or blends your soul to another person's soul in the past (or possibly future) using the Dao.  The mushrooms themselves might actually be created automatically after someone ascends to immorality as they shed their final vestages of their mortal existance or they might be created by Dao automatically to solve paradox problems.  Either way, I assume that the blacksmith was a real person who already ascended and isn't the MC but shared enough of a blended soul with the MC to give him some talent.

There is also an element of the immortal celebration falling apart for no good reason.  Was this connected to the MC gaining power?  It's possible or it's possible it was just the MC hallucinating.
