@CrabbyCrab I really hate that g** awful trope! I really wish that trope didn't exist from the beginning or it's not so gosh darn common!
@Crypster lock He also has a loving stepmother instead of one trying to boot the current heirs in favor of her family. I love it.
When they do have the boot the "useless" person, I love it when the MC becomes powerful, they come back begging, and the MC tells them to fu** off. With the exception of any family that were sympathetic and/or secretly helped, but couldn't defy the family head openly. Usually the MC is nice and doesn't want the kind family members to wreck their life for him, either.
