Everytime I read a different reincarnation story, I am dissapointed by how flippantly they treat the mc's family learning that their son was actually somebody else. That wasn't your son, yet you still loved him just as much. It's something that never gets explored in stories like this because it isn't convenient for a powertripping mc to have to deal with the raw emotion of something like this. Processing the fact that the developing mind of your possible kid being completely overwritten and replaced by one that is foreign is such a powerful story point. It's only through realizing that even though the son they raised and loved may be different than the one they imagine, they loved and still love him all the same, can justice truly be done to the reincarnation plotline in a satisfying manner. I'm impressed.
