I actually started bawling my eyes out in a way ive never done over any manga in my life when takezou began playing. This story is just such a beautiful blend of whats good about humanity and how music brings life to everything, and just seeing takezou develop from a meek, underspoken human being to this absolutely calm and collected, respectable leader is such a great character development on a level I have never felt from fiction ever.
As a new reader I just caught up with this manga over 4 days, and takezou started off as the greatest relatable character to me, yet seeing how someone who I saw myself in could grow into such a beautiful person really made me change my outlook on my life. This author might not be able to deliver the sounds of the koto to us but i can hear the koto every chapter, and I can hear the raw emotional weight behind every note thanks to this unimaginably immersive piece of art that is kono oto tomare.
It's as if I have actually been there, in this koto club as a member from the start, and watched all these characters I love grow into such developed, independent, and emotionally mature human beings from a first person view. This manga is an underrated gem and idk if anyone will even read this entire essay I ended up writing but g** am I so grateful I started this manga because never in my life have I truly loved a story more than I love this one.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
