Both are in the wrong. You know why? Because Would you like it if your spouse booked a flight to where ever without telling you and YOU find their plane ticket, No you wouldn't.
guaranteed Riftan could have handled it better and not yelled at her. He also does have some anger issues and can be a bit obsessive in some ways - but ATLEAST he went out to blow off some steam on his horse. Instead of hitting her.
I also believe he has a small problem with Ruth quote on quote "Likes to make others do the work for him" (may not be the exact quote but its what he meant - get off my a**)
Plus Ruth is a guy - Maxi is a girl, he knows Maxi wouldn't cheat but hes not so sure about Ruth.
But Riftan is human, Maxi is human, and Ruth is some-what human.
My point im trying to make is if he didn't have some flaws then this wouldn't be realistic.

Coolwoofiey - It was an Example you bombshuade - I get it - she is doing something she 'wanted' to do but in this story, Magic is dangerous and comes at price.
She should've said "Riftan, I am going to be studying magic will YOU BE FINE with me doing magic?"
the plane ticket was an example of not asking your partner and finding out 2 weeks after the booking
