I'm revising my previous hypothesis. Gabriel is not a clone of Adam. And it was Isaiah who gave his eyes to Adam and then implanted Gabriel's eyes into himself. And out of guilt, Eve erased their memories so that neither would remember the other, after witnessing the consequences of the guidance in Adam.
