hoarfrost is a grayish-white crystalline deposit of frozen water vapor formed in clear still weather on vegetation, fences, etc.
you can say it's something like snow or ice (but with different structure) with beautiful patterns.

@Taylah swifcht As I understand it, he compares concubines to beautiful flowers, and himself to hoarfrost. This means they are beautiful and captivating (and even adapted to Arnate's climat), and he is just "snow," worthless, unattractive (and will soon "melt"). In other words, he can't even compare to them.
