FYI everyon, this manga has officailly removed the BL tag.
Sad news, so i guess this manga is just gonna be a supernatural mystery now.
NGL, the BL was a real draw and also the allegories that can be drawn with a g@y ml that has to deal with the lose of not only his childhood friend but also a boy he loved, really worked here with the imagery. Like, this manga won a BL award at some point too.
@Jack on this site many tags are wrong, for example "no.6" is not even marked as shounen ai despite there being kisses, declarations of love etc. so, from the first chapters we know that the mc was in love with his friend, and even now, that he has realized that he's dead, he still worries, while the demon in Hikaru's body feels emotions that he doesn't understand. To me more than bl (because I don't think there will be any spicy scenes) it still seems that there is still something, it will probably be shounen ai - mystery
@Riikah I agree. Even if not officially recognised as BL/shounen-ai, their relationship is not too ambiguous to conclude such themes of romance are totally absent from the narrative. The main genre is thriller/mystery/supernatural, though within such genres, romance may occasionally surface. I think it would be a shame to abandon such a unique story because of a technicality.
@HONGJOONG yeah apparently the author confirmed. It's not just this sites tagging system. I got this quote from a twitter user explaining what was happening: "Yeah after volume 2 they did a complete 180 and removed it, also said ‘hikaru’ can never feel romantic or sexual feelings so he can’t romantically love Yoshiki even tho in volume 2 ‘hikaru’ literally said and I quote, "I think I am in love with Yoshiki"
@Jack its so weird!! Beacuse i think many people started reading it for it..(i am not daying the story isn't good!! It's really good) but really confusing haha also the official arts ( in chapter 0 here in this site) literally make us think it's a bl..anyway thanks for replying!! and i remember seeing the tweet of the author -https://x.com/mokmok_len/status/1719173164440441161?s=46 - here it is they say it..
@Jack This manga is awesome, the art and the story line, but its sad that for be a BL story a lot of people don't want to read it. I guess, it is understandable that the author would like to have the recognition he deserves, and delete the BL tag. It is sad, but ir is fair.
@miAIU he** nah, she made BL stories in the past and reblogged BL as well. "Hikaru" confesses to Yoshiki again in chapter 26 and the manga is refered to as "horror bl" in the special announcement for the series
